New Delhi, March 29 (Commodities Control): Cotton prices remained unchanged for the second consecutive day in Lower Rajasthan on Friday, largely due to limited purchases from spinning mills. Concurrently, the daily arrival of Kapas in the state's mandis remained stagnant.
Traders attribute the stability in cotton prices to the ongoing March closing, which has prompted spinning mills in the state to procure cotton only as per their immediate requirements.
Consequently, prices in the spot market have remained steady for the second consecutive day. Business activities are anticipated to remain subdued throughout the current week, with a corresponding decrease in demand from spinning mills. As a result, the cotton market may continue to exhibit limited fluctuations in the near term. Similarly, Kapas and cottonseed prices also remained stable in the state.
The arrival of Kapas in the mandis of Lower Rajasthan today amounted to 1,000 bales, each weighing 170 kg. This figure match with the arrival recorded on the previous trading day.
With spinning mills exercising caution in their cotton purchases amidst the prevailing market conditions, the cotton market in Lower Rajasthan is expected to maintain its stability until there's a notable shift in demand.
