Mumbai, May 3 (Commodities Control): India's Pulses sowing acreage during summer season, which will end by May, increased 3.96% as of May 3rd, 2024, led by Moong and Urad.
Higher area under summer pulses was mainly due to more coverage of urad and moong. Moong crop sowing up at 16.76 lh against 15.89 lh year-ago and urad at 3.19 lh from 3.24 lh. The key growers of summer pulses are Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.
India is about to receive above normal rainfall during the upcoming monsoon season. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a bountiful monsoon for the year. In a press briefing on April 15, the agency has forecast that the rains in June-September will be 6% more than the annual average of 87 cm during these months.
