Mumbai, April 25 (Commoditiescontrol): Small cardamom prices in major markets saw a modest recovery, driven by robust demand despite a rise in arrivals. The increased inquiries from North India and export demand boosted the market sentiment. Although arrivals increased, prices improved.
Arrivals totaled 123,398 kg, marginally lower than the previous session's 125,452 kg. However, offtake rose to 120,632 kg from 120,776 kg in the previous session, driven by stronger demand. With a offtake rate of 97.8%, reflecting the robust demand scenario.
The average price per kilogram ranged between Rs 1,920 and 1,927, showing an increase from the previous session's range of Rs 1,886 to 1,925 per kg. The highest reported price remained stable at Rs 3,008 per kg.
Grade-specific rates remained stable, with prices for 7 mm grades ranging between Rs 1,740 and Rs 1,820 per kg, Rs 1,920 to Rs 2,000 per kg for grades 7-8 mm, and Rs 2,200 to Rs 2,360 per kg for grades 8 mm and above.
In the North East's major markets, large cardamom prices were reported to be stable to firm. Prices for Badadana and Chotadana witnessed an increase of Rs 50 per quintal. Badadana prices ranged between Rs 1,350 and 1,500 per kg, while Chotadana prices were reported between Rs 1,200 and 1,332 per kg.
